Cadre exceptionnel : lac baignable (plage surveillée juillet-août, eau ARS contrôlée), vallée glaciaire de Chaudefour (réserve naturelle nationale), cols routiers d'accès au Sancy. Le lac est un lieu de baignade et de paddle, le village une base nature.

À voir : Lac Chambon (plage surveillée, paddle, pédalo), Réserve Naturelle de la Vallée de Chaudefour (Dent de la Rancune, Cascade de la Biche), Col de la Croix-Morand (1 401 m), Col de la Croix Saint-Robert (1 451 m, accès Puy de Sancy). À 5 min : Château de Murol.

En pratique : parking gratuit à la plage. Camping Yelloh Village Le Pré Bas (4 étoiles, bord du lac). Vol en montgolfière avec Auvergne Montgolfière. Pour dormir : plusieurs campings au bord du lac et des hôtels-restaurants répartis entre le village et Murol, à 5 minutes. Accès depuis Clermont-Ferrand par la D996 via Murol (environ 45 minutes).
