Cité fortifiée dès le Moyen Âge, siège du Parlement d'Auvergne sous l'Ancien Régime. Architecture en pierre de Volvic et arkose, hôtels particuliers Renaissance, tour de l'Horloge en beffroi central.

Sainte-Chapelle uniquement en visite guidée (office tourisme). Tour de l'Horloge = 95 marches mais vue 360° sur les puys. Combinez avec Abbatiale de Mozac (chapiteaux uniques) à 5 min en voiture.
