If you're passing through Orcival, Auberge Le Cantou is waiting for you on the square, opposite the basilica. Two dining rooms, a terrace, and regional cooking prepared day by day, following the seasons. The chef, François Genin, focuses on local specialities and homemade food.
On the November 2025 menu, the Auvergne menu (€28.50) runs through pounti or the Cantou terrine, aligot or pan-fried truffade with Auvergne ham, then cheeses from the burons (stone herders' huts) or a dessert from the blackboard. The Cantou fondue is half a farmhouse Saint-Nectaire melted in its rind, served with charcuterie, potatoes and salad (€22.50 on the November 2025 menu).
It's open every day from 08:00 to 22:00 (2026 hours), and bookings are by phone only. Pets are accepted, and little ones have their high chair and their own menu.
