Our take

The combination we love: a proper truffade from chef Hugo Pereira, then a jazz concert in the cellar, without leaving your table.

Auvergne restaurant and jazz cellar in the heart of old Clermont. The house truffade, then a concert without changing rooms.

In the heart of old Clermont, Le Puy de la Lune does two things at once: an Auvergne restaurant at the table and a concert cellar in the evening. You come for the truffade, you stay for the jazz.

In the kitchen, chef Hugo Pereira serves home-style cooking rooted in Auvergne traditions. The truffade is the house speciality, the one worth the trip. Alongside it, tartare, burgers, frogs' legs and a vegan option. At lunchtime from Thursday to Sunday, a reasonably priced set menu; in the evening à la carte, allow around €20 to €30 (2026 range: check before you go). Terrace in season, and the restaurant is labelled Maître Restaurateur.

The real plus is Le Caveau de la Michodière: a vaulted room where concerts run almost every evening, jazz first, but also manouche (gypsy jazz), blues and chanson. Friday and Saturday it's jazz; on Sunday, a piano aperitif at midday and a jazz aperitif in the evening. At the bar: 90 wines, 40 beers including 8 on tap, around sixty rums.

Our take, frankly: this is the spot for an evening that starts with a local plate and carries on with music, without moving. Closed Monday and Tuesday, book at the weekend, it fills up fast.
