In the Cézallier, a few kilometres from Marcenat, the Bonjon stream tips off a flow of basalt columns and drops more than 20 metres. The waterfall takes its name from the nearby hamlet of Le Saillant.
You park near the hamlet, towards Montgreleix, in the neighbouring car park, and the fall is easy to reach on foot, with the family.
The site stays quiet, with a picnic area close by to make the break last. Come in spring or after a good rain: that is when the Bonjon shows its true flow.

Top tip
Start from the village square of Le Saillant and do the “Autour du Bonjon” loop (blue PR, 5 km, about 1 hour 30): it passes back by the waterfall and crosses this quiet corner of the Cézallier.
Before you go
- In spring or after a good rain, when the Bonjon is flowing at full strength.
- A car park and a picnic area are close to the waterfall, which is accessible all year round weather permitting.
- To go further, the “Autour du Bonjon” loop (blue PR) is 5 km in about 1 hour 30 from the village square.
