From Montgreleix to Egliseneuve (stage 8 of the Tour des Vaches Rouges)

A bucolic path leads to a pretty stone bridge over the Loubanère stream. It marks the boundary between the Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme départements, and then lets you climb back up to Egliseneuve-d'Entraigues.

Start: With your back to the church in Montgreleix, set off to the right. Go straight through the village and at the T-junction at the end, turn right then immediately left. Enter the summer pastures and go down to the valley floor, keeping the fence on your right-hand side.

Just before the dense copse, branch left onto the path that lets you out of the summer pasture. Once out, turn left onto the stony path. Then go through the hamlet of La Bastide and at the end of the road, at the T-junction, climb to the right.

Just before you leave the hamlet of Lascombe, take the gravel path on the left and go down into the valley, keeping to your right.

Rejoin the road and branch right. On reaching La Bac, turn left at the entrance to the village then immediately right. Carry straight on and cross the main road to continue opposite across a summer pasture.

On leaving the summer pasture, turn right onto the road then at the next crossroads take a sharp left (hairpin). Leave a first path on your left and take the left at the next Y-junction. On the way down keep to the right to enter the copse. At the bottom cross the stone bridge and climb the stony path opposite.

On reaching the road, continue for 150 m before branching right onto a path that runs alongside it. Go down until you rejoin that road and turn right. Cross the bridge and climb back up towards the village of Egliseneuve-d'Entraigues.
