A 30 m high waterfall in the Cheylade valley, at the foot of the Puy Mary (Cantal). Open site, free. A laid-out car park on the D262, at the junction with the D62 (towards the Lac des Cascades): the waterfall is a few minutes' walk away. A spectacular leap into a basalt cirque. Strong flow in spring after the snow melts on the Puy Mary, more modest in summer. Forest all around, damp atmosphere. Can be combined with the Pas de Peyrol and the Puy Mary (15 minutes by car).

Top tip
Combine it with the Pas de Peyrol and the climb of the Puy Mary for the day. Walking shoes, rocky path. Avoid it after storms (the water rises quickly).
Before you go
- The laid-out car park is on the D262, at the junction with the D62 towards the Lac des Cascades.
- From there, a few minutes' walk is enough, but the path is rocky: walking shoes.
- The big flow comes in spring after the snow melts on the Puy Mary; in summer, the fall is noticeably more modest.
- Give it a miss just after a storm, the water rises quickly.
