The Auze tips in a single jet over a 30-metre basalt ledge, among volcanic rocks and forest, south of Mauriac. One of the big waterfalls of the Cantal, and it takes only a few minutes of descent to reach it.
You park beside the D922, above Salins, then walk down to the foot of the falls. The full loop is about 3 km, for just under an hour and a half of walking: a rope bridge spans the Monzola, and one section runs along the basalt columns behind the waterfall, where the Druids' fountain hides.
It gets slippery fast after rain, especially on the section behind the falls. Bring shoes with good grip.

Top tip
The path behind the waterfall runs along the basalt columns and leads to the Druids' fountain, but it gets slippery fast after rain. Shoes with good grip are a must.
