Our take
Bleu d'Auvergne, salers and cantal from the same farm, raw milk, a stone's throw from Murat. You leave with what you have just tasted.
Cheese farm in Albepierre-Bredons, a stone's throw from Murat. Three raw-milk AOPs, farm shop and visits by reservation.
La Grange de la Haute Vallée is a cheese farm at the hamlet of Pignou, in Albepierre-Bredons, at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal and in the Alagnon valley.
Farmhouse raw-milk cheeses are made here with the milk of a herd of Montbéliarde cows: bleu d'Auvergne, salers and cantal, all three AOP (protected designation of origin), plus a saint-timothée and yoghurts.
In 2026, the farm shop is open Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:30, closed on Sundays; on Monday morning, call before you come. The farm visit (1 hour 30, tasting of the three AOPs at the end) is booked through the Hautes Terres tourist office, in Murat, which gives the dates. You come to taste and fill the cool box: no meals are served here.
