Deep in the Haut-Livradois, a path follows the Faredonde stream through the forest, then crosses it and opens onto a clear valley: there's the Cascade de Gomot.
You get there on foot from Saint-Germain-l'Herm along the “La cascade” loop: 12.7 km waymarked in yellow from the church, through woodland, forest tracks and hamlets, with a possible detour to the Pierre des Prades (200 m there and back).
Allow 3 hours 30 for 341 m of ascent: the loop is graded difficult, so wear good shoes. Along the way, a viewpoint opens onto the Chaîne des Puys.

Top tip
