L'Hippocampe is a seafood restaurant in Vichy, on boulevard de Russie, near the Parc des Sources. Blue lobster, oysters, turbot or sardine: the fish arrives from Breton ports and holding tanks and stays at the centre of the plate.
At the stove, chef Gilles Ruyet, a Breton from the Lorient area, a Maître Restaurateur for twenty-one years in Thiers, and his daughter Marianne. In 2026, the restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide selection, and the “retour de pêche” (fresh catch) lunch menu is €28, with a quarter-litre of wine included, Wednesday to Saturday excluding public holidays.
