Our take
Once you're through the mahogany revolving door, you're in the former Thermal Palace: Eugène Goujon's ironwork, and in the Ascot bar, stained-glass windows from Londonderry House and period panelling. Jean-Paul Rappeneau used it as a set for his film “Bon voyage”. A Belle Époque night, without having to imagine it.

The grand historic hotel of the town, used as much by long-stay spa guests (curistes) as by visitors coming for a weekend in UNESCO-listed Vichy. The thermal baths are not in the hotel, allow a few minutes' walk. Most rooms look onto the Parc des Sources or the Parc d'Allier.

Top tip
Some rooms have a balcony with a view over Vichy: ask for one when you book. The thermal baths are a few minutes' walk away, the hotel doesn't have one on site. The outdoor pool and the terrace are only open in season. Pets are accepted.

- In 2026, a standard double room starts at €95 a night, a superior from €115, and interconnecting rooms for four people from €185. Breakfast is extra, €16 in 2026.
