One of the few Egyptian restaurants in Vichy, and it holds its own: koshari, taouk, Middle Eastern pastries, in a carefully done setting. The sidestep that makes a change from the brasseries on the square.

On Place Charles de Gaulle, in the centre of Vichy, Alexandrie takes you to the other side of the Mediterranean. It is one of the few Egyptian restaurants in the city, and it sticks to its course: Middle Eastern cooking, recipes from Alexandria, spices measured with a light hand.
On the plate: koshari (rice, lentils, pasta and tomato sauce), foul medames (slow-cooked fava beans) and taouk (skewers of marinated chicken). Vegetarian options, a children's menu, and Middle Eastern desserts that we advise you to save some room for. Expect a lunch menu at around €15 and €20 to 30 à la carte (2026 prices, check prices when you book). Dining room seating 60, terrace in season, booking advised at weekends.
One detail that matters: Alexandrie is also a tea room. It's open non-stop from 09:00 to 22:00, Tuesday to Saturday, so you can spend the afternoon there just for a coffee and a pastry. Carefully done decor, calm atmosphere.
Our take, frankly: it's the right sidestep when you keep going round in circles between the brasseries on the square. You go for a change of scene, and for the desserts.
