The Evan is a 2-star hotel in Lempdes-sur-Allagnon, in Haute-Loire, at exit 20 of the A75. Handy for a stopover if you're heading south, very close to Issoire and Brioude.
For the night, 27 ground-floor rooms, air-conditioned and soundproofed, with shower, TV and free WiFi. Two are wheelchair accessible, and the car park has electric charging points.
The restaurant holds its own. Chef Maxime cooks traditional seasonal food with an Auvergne terroir slant: lentils, cheeses, Salers, verveine du Velay. Before the building work, the menu offered a single dish at €14, set menus at €18 and €23, and savoury and sweet crêpes.
One thing to know: the hotel is closed for extension work, with reopening planned for the end of 2026. Until then, Réjane and Maxime welcome you at the Maison Legate, the family's establishment in Saint-Beauzire (Hôtel Le Baudière and restaurant Le Vieux Four), exit 22 of the A75.

Top tip
