Alfred

Alfred opened in 2012 in Clermont-Ferrand. You'll find it at 5 rue du Puits-Artésien, a stone's throw from the Lagarlaye tram stop. The approach is bistronomic: chef's own cooking, technically skilled, served in a relaxed setting.

The menu follows the seasons and what comes in. Seasonal vegetables, meat from regional farms, responsibly sourced fish: Alfred favours short supply chains, and organic or low-input farming when possible.

In 2026, at lunchtime, it's the market menu: two choices of starter, main and dessert, €19 for starter and main or main and dessert, €22 for the full menu, €15 for the dish of the day alone. In the evening, three menus: Besoin végétal at €28 (entirely plant-based), Envie saisonnière at €36 and the bistronomic menu at €45. The dishes on these menus can also be ordered à la carte, with a plate of cheeses matured by Olivier Nivesse to finish.

On the wine side, the sommelier bets on Auvergne and looks further afield. Contemporary décor, dim lighting, a wooden terrace in fine weather. Open Tuesday to Saturday, lunch and dinner.
