Dallet, along the Allier
Start: Dallet
Dallet is an example of an old winegrowing village. It is built where the banks of the Allier, the hillsides of the Puy de Mur (which overlooks it from an altitude of 603 metres) and the fertile Limagne plain meet: together they have provided all the right conditions for the site to prosper, ever since prehistoric times.

The route in detail
Start: From the start sign on the banks of the Allier, follow the banks away from the village (sign "L'Allier"). Go past the water tower, ignoring the path on the left. 200 m further on, leave the main path for a footpath that enters the riparian woodland on the right. It comes out again, after a loop through the woodland, a little further on the main path (sign "Manger et être mangé", eat and be eaten).
1. Then turn right and carry on along the path, which becomes a footpath alongside a fence and the Allier. A little further on, ignore the path on the left and plunge back into the riparian woodland. Continue for 450 m before reaching the banks of the Allier again (signs "La forêt alluviale", the alluvial forest, and "Les poissons", the fish).
2. Continue to the left, winding along. The path moves away from the bank before turning right and coming back close to the Allier. Carry on for 300 m until you join a track (sign "Les champs captants", the wellfields).
3. Bear left onto the track. It runs straight for 450 m to the stadium. Shortly before the end of the stadium, turn right to reach Dallet.
4. Turn left onto the Quai de l'Allier and continue to the bridge, passing the car park. (signs "Les oiseaux", the birds, "La maison en galets et son jardinet", the pebble house and its little garden, "Le bac et le pont", the ferry and the bridge).
5. Retrace your steps, then at the car park turn right again to the starting point.
