A waterfall in the Monts du Cantal, in the commune of Thiézac (near Pailherols), reached by a waymarked path from the hamlet of Lasmolineries. A drop of around forty metres into a basalt cirque, with a strong flow in spring after the snowmelt. 20 minutes' walk one way, with a steep descent through woodland before the fall. Open-access, free, little known beyond the locals. Cold water all year, swimming not recommended. A damp forest and black basalt atmosphere.

Top tip
Park at the hamlet of Lasmolineries, above Thiézac: the path waymarked in yellow starts there. Shoes with good grip, the descent is slippery. Combine with Pailherols (one of the most beautiful villages in the Cantal).
