The Cascade de la Beaume is the biggest waterfall in Haute-Loire. On the Devès plateau, south of Le Puy-en-Velay, the Ourzie cuts into the basalt and gushes from the top of a cliff to land 27 metres below, where it gives rise to the Beaume, a tributary of the Loire.
You park at the Reynardon car park, on the D54 near Solignac-sur-Loire. About twenty minutes' walk along the river, in the Agizoux forest, takes you to the viewpoint, then a path reaches the waterfall: allow 40 minutes there and back. The path is earthy, rocky and wet in places: wear good shoes, and leave the pushchair at home.
Walkers set off from Solignac on a waymarked 10.5 km loop. The Velay greenway passes very close by.

Top tip
Picnics are possible nearby. You can combine it with the Loire gorges or a stroll in Le Puy-en-Velay, about twenty minutes away.
