Our take

A laid-out site that puts the river within arm's reach, 20 minutes from Aurillac. A path that follows the river in an unspoilt forest setting.

  • For a fine day

A trail at the bottom of the gorges, right alongside the Jordanne: footbridges, waterfalls and rock walls, 20 minutes from Aurillac.

A deep valley cut by the Jordanne river in the Cantal, between Aurillac and the Cantal mountains. A gorge path laid out over 2 km (allow 2 to 3 hours with stops), reached from Saint-Cirgues-de-Jordanne. Waterfalls, a wooden footbridge, an arched bridge and cantilevered sections, in the hollow of gorges 20 to 60 m deep carved into volcanic breccias. An intimate forest setting.

Why we love it

  • The river carving the rock beneath your feet, within arm's reach
  • The wooden footbridge and the arched bridge that take you from one bank to the other
  • The cantilevered sections hung on the rock face along the path
  • The forest that closes off the sky and completely changes the atmosphere
