Napoleon III's former casino turned Vichy's main stage: an auditorium of almost 500 seats, side by side with the Opera.
The Palais des Congrès occupies Vichy's former casino, built from 1863 to 1865 by the architect Charles Badger at the request of Napoleon III. Converted into a convention centre, it reopened under this name in 1995. Its Eugénie auditorium holds around 500 people, and the building houses several reception rooms, including the Napoléon III room. It connects directly with the neighbouring Opera (1903, Charles Le Cœur), which keeps its Art Nouveau hall, the largest outside Paris when it opened. On the programme: theatre, concerts, conferences, festivals.

Top tip
Shows in the Opera's season are booked through Vichy Culture, other events through their organiser. The tourist office runs guided tours of the Palais and the Opera, booking required.
