In Clermont-Ferrand, La Coopérative de Mai is THE venue where the tours that matter come through. The building stands on the site of a former Michelin cooperative shop for workers, hence the name. People come for rock, rap, electro or metal.
Two halls under the same roof. The Grande Salle takes up to 1,500 people standing; Le Club, more intimate, holds around 464, ideal for discovering an act up close. Designated a scène de musiques actuelles (SMAC), La Coope lines up about 130 concerts a year, from international headliners to up-and-coming bands. Bar and food on site, online ticketing, wheelchair-adapted access and toilets.
Europavox was born at the venue in 2006. The European music festival now takes place in Clermont-Ferrand at the start of every summer. And outside concerts, the place keeps busy all the same: residencies and support for the local scene.
Our take: the atmosphere always matches the bill, from rap to metal. And Le Club remains the best place in town to discover a band before anyone else.
