Our take

Clermont's safe indoor bet: four scenarios that draw on local history, game masters who nudge you along without spoilers, and enough to keep a group busy on a rainy evening.

Escape game in Clermont-Ferrand: four worlds inspired by the local area (Gergovie, catacombs), one-hour sessions for 2 to 5 players (6 for L'Asile).

In the Brézet area, Escape Hunt plays a rare card: puzzles rooted in Clermont's heritage. You're not searching an interchangeable set: you re-enact the Battle of Gergovie or go down into the city's catacombs.

The principle stays classic: one hour on the clock, a team of 2 to 5 players (up to 6 for “L'Asile”) and a game master who gives you a nudge when you're stuck. Four worlds: “Panique à Gergovie”, “Le Cercle Noir des Catacombes”, “Le Fantôme de la Cathédrale” and “L'Asile”, the tensest. Allow around €25 per person (€21 to €35 depending on the room and the group, 2026 price), briefing and debriefing included.

Good to know: from age 10 (14 for “L'Asile”), air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible. The most popular scenarios exist in duplicate, so two groups play the same game at the same time, handy for a birthday.

Our take, frankly: it's Clermont's safe indoor bet on a rainy day or with mates, and scenarios that talk about the region make a change. Book ahead at the weekend, it goes fast.

Why we love it

  • Four themed worlds, enough to come back several times
  • Game masters who nudge you along without giving away the solution
  • Scenarios rooted in the area: Gergovie, catacombs, cathedral
  • Air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible, open late at weekends

Top tip

Book one to two weeks ahead for Saturday night. On a Saturday or Sunday slot before 12:00, the code EARLY15 takes 15% off the game. For a group of six, “L'Asile” is the only room that goes up to six players.
