Under its great dome of flambé-glazed stoneware, Vichy's Belle Époque spa: cures for rheumatology and digestive disorders.

Vichy was built around its water, and Les Dômes is its showcase. The building, opened in 1903 at the height of the Belle Époque, is easy to spot from a distance thanks to its great Moorish-inspired dome of flambé-glazed stoneware. In 1934, a wing was added, topped by two neo-Byzantine towers: the former spring-water tanks.

The spa still runs its cures (courses of spa treatments), focused on rheumatology and digestive disorders. The cure conventionnée (the cure approved for health-insurance cover) lasts 18 days, on prescription, and is covered by the Assurance maladie (French national health insurance); in 2026, the season at Les Dômes runs from 8 June to 12 December. Without a prescription, the 'prévention santé' (preventive health) packages start at a half-day of treatments (€89 in 2026), provided you have a medical certificate stating there's no contraindication.

Inside, the hall has kept its decor: glazed arched doors, multicoloured stained glass, paintings by Alphonse Osbert, and faience (glazed ceramics) with water-lily patterns in the former luxury treatment rooms. The façades and dome of the south wing, the hall and the luxury treatment rooms have been listed as a historic monument (monument historique) since 1989.

Our take: come for the building first. A stone's throw from the Parc des Sources, you can admire the dome from the street for free. The cure itself is for people with a real health reason.
