Our take
The green lung of thermal Vichy. You immediately understand why the Second Empire made it its holiday destination.
The thermal heart of Vichy, UNESCO-listed: bandstand, horse chestnut trees, and the Hall des Sources, where you can taste Célestins water for free.
Vichy's central thermal park, UNESCO-listed since 2021 as part of the Great Spa Towns of Europe. 4.5 hectares in the heart of the thermal quarter, a bandstand, benches in the shade of the horse chestnut trees, the Hall des Sources where spa guests (curistes) drink their water (if you are not on a cure, you can taste the Célestins water there for free). You will pass spa guests glass in hand between treatments. Open access.
Why we love it
- UNESCO
- Promenade completed by decree of Napoleon I, in 1812
- The covered gallery designed by the ironworker Émile Robert in 1898
Top tip
Not on a cure? Head straight to the Hall des Sources, on the east side: you can taste Célestins water there for free. Also have a look at the glass roof that lets you see the Chomel spring gush up. And in summer, keep a Sunday afternoon free for the bandstand concerts.
Before you go
- Dogs accepted, on a lead only.
- Open access and free of charge, every day
- Bandstand concerts on Sunday afternoons in summer (from 5 July to 20 September in 2026)
