A story of water

It gives you a fine panorama from the village of St-Just, overlooking the Dore valley. You will discover a vernacular heritage rich in wash houses, bridges and mills.

Start from the church, take the street that goes down to the last houses. Carry straight on; the street becomes a path. Pass to the left of the wastewater treatment plant and reach the D251. Cross it. Continue along the steep path bearing left for 200 m. Cross the D251 again, then take the steeply descending path opposite that goes down to the Issartier mill. Cross the bridge and climb back up by the main path to the D205. Cross it and climb the small road opposite to the village of Issartier.

(1) Go through the village and, before the last houses of the village, bear right onto the path. Keep following this main path all the way to Plagne. Go through the village and, at the wash house, take the road on the left.

(2) At the junction, carry straight on, ignore the path on the right and, still climbing, bear right and ignore the 2 paths on the left. Still on the wide path, ignore a 1st path on the left, then a 2nd on the right and finally a third on the left. Then bear right, leaving the wide path to go back down to Chassagnolles. Turn left, go through the village, and in the centre of the village, turn right to reach the D205.

(3) Cross it and take the road opposite, then immediately the path on the right. At another path, carry straight on to Chaillargues. At the road, turn right then at the second road turn left. At the next junction, turn right then at the fork carry straight on along a path that goes down to the Cros and Baffie stream next to the Planches mill.

(4) At the junction, carry straight on keeping to the same path. Cross the two streams, at the fork take the left, then at the second fork, climb right on the steep path and reach the D251. Follow it to the left then take the first road on the right to reach the village of St-Just.
