Montravel

Start at the church in Beurières: take the lane between the church and the restaurant “Le Ruisseau”.

(1) At the crossroads, take the road straight ahead, towards La Folerie. 20 m further on, leave this road and take the grassy track straight ahead. At the crossing, climb straight on to Le Béal (view of the village of Beurières).

(2) At the wooden cross, continue straight ahead towards the miellerie (honey house). Just after, at the fork, turn left. Always keep to the most marked track until a large fork; then carry on to the right.

(3) At the road, go down to the right for 350 m to take the track climbing on the left. 10 m further on, at the fork, carry straight on. Pass below the hamlet of Olliergues and continue to the tarmac.

(4) At the crossroads, turn right onto the road. 30 m further on, climb the rocky track straight ahead. Follow the low wall and always keep to the same track lined with hazel trees.

(5) At the fork, go down to the right to cross the Vernades stream; climb back up by the same track. 200 m higher up, turn right towards Chavagnat. Turn right to enter the hamlet.

(6) Go past the cross, then take the first grassy track on the right. Always keep to the most marked track. Cross the Boutrand stream; turn off onto the first track on the left. Climb through this fine beech wood by the path to join a more marked track; then turn right to Montravel.

(7) At the chapel, turn right to enter the hamlet and follow the first track on the right (view of the Dore plain, the Monts du Livradois and Arlanc), then carry straight on. At the large crossroads, turn left to reach the road. Turn left for 20 m and go down the little path on the right to the tarmac.

(8) Turn left at La Pascaille and, just after the cross, turn off to the left. Skirt the EDF transformer station and follow the track straight ahead. At the crossing of 4 tracks, turn right. At the fork, go down to the right (Watch out: dangerous descent). At the stream, carry straight on. Skirt the meadows (view of Arlanc and the Monts du Livradois) and continue to the road. Turn left and follow this road to the entrance of Beurières.

(9) Carry straight on to enter the village and return to the church.
