A small 3-star municipal campsite at the entrance to the village of Siaugues-Saint-Romain (in the commune of Siaugues-Sainte-Marie, Haute-Loire), on the road to Langeac, at 910 metres altitude. Nine spacious pitches with water and electricity, on a shaded, enclosed site, plus five chalets to rent. Play area, common room with TV and kitchen area (very handy when it rains), free laundry, wifi, barbecue. A bakery and a grocer's are 200 metres away. The campsite is open from 23 March to 31 December. A long-distance footpath (GR) passes less than a kilometre away, and for the canoe trip down the Allier, allow less than twenty minutes by road to Langeac, half an hour to Lavoûte-Chilhac.

Top tip
Book in April/May for the summer holidays. Easy to combine with canoeing on the Allier (hire at Lavoûte-Chilhac). Allow 40 minutes by road to Lavaudieu, listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France (the Most Beautiful Villages of France).
Before you go
- For the canoe trip down the Allier, allow less than twenty minutes by road to Langeac, half an hour to Lavoûte-Chilhac
- A bakery and a grocer's are 200 metres away: you can fetch the morning bread on foot
- Travelling by e-bike? A charging point is waiting for you at the campsite, adaptor at reception
