A granite monolith standing between the Sioule and the gorge road, just after the village of Chouvigny heading towards Pont-de-Menat. Roc Armand rises 25 metres above the river, and a steep staircase on the side takes you to its top.
Up there, you take in the Chouvigny gorges in a single glance: the Sioule winding below, the wooded slopes, and the medieval castle perched on its rocky spur. A small car park at the foot of the rock makes stopping easy.
Roc Armand is also one of the three climbing sectors in the gorges, with about 70 routes in the granite. Look up on your way up: there's often someone on the rock face.

Top tip
For good walkers, the Chemin des Murailles passes in front of the viewpoint, starting from the village of Chouvigny: a short but steep loop, slippery in wet weather, best avoided with young children.
