In the footsteps of Jean de la nuit

Start: From the car park (lectern 1: “Au fil du Madet”, along the Madet), at the crossroads of the D 307 and the D 306, take the road that goes down to the village of Bouys. Go through the hamlet and alongside the mill (lectern 2: “Le Bouys”). Take the footbridge on the right to cross the Madet and continue to the left alongside the stream.

1. At another footbridge (lectern 3: “Le pré de la Ramade”, the Ramade meadow), carry straight on. Follow the yellow waymarking to the next lectern (lectern 4: “Les grandes côtes”, the big slopes), then go down below the lectern along the footpath (millstones from an old mill and traces of the mill race) and rejoin the main path at a cave. Then continue along the stream to the ruined tower (lectern 5: “Le moulin des Maquisards”, the Maquisards' mill). At the fork, turn left to follow the stream again. At the next crossroads, turn left and continue to the bridge (lectern 6: “Le pont des Pirins”, the Pirins bridge).

2. Turn round and take the path that climbs out of the valley. At the junction, keep climbing on a path that is sometimes cobbled up to the houses. Take the path that climbs on the right. At the road carry straight on through the hamlet of Les Loubatoux. In the hamlet, turn right. Take the D 307 to the right.

3. Follow the first path on the right (view of the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy massif). At the junction (view of the valley opposite), keep climbing to the left (at the top of the mound on your left: panorama and orientation table). Continue on the same path then at the crossroads, turn left to the D 307. Take it to the right to the village of Train (a winegrowing village), and continue on the same road to the start.
