Our take
Henri Pourrat called it the little Versailles of Auvergne. The Lastics acquired it in 1707 and still live there, among paintings by Rigaud and Largillierre and a library of 20,000 bound volumes.
A private 18th-century château, owned by the Lastic family since 1707. Guided visits only, at fixed times, from June to September in 2026.
An 18th-century château at Parentignat, near Issoire, nicknamed “the little Versailles of Auvergne” by Henri Pourrat. The Lastic family acquired the seigneury in 1707 and still live there. Spared during the Revolution, the château houses a private collection of French paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries (Largillierre, Rigaud, Nattier, Mignard), state bedrooms that keep much of their original furniture and a library of 20,000 bound volumes. Outside, an English-style park of 3 hectares. In 2026, the château can be visited from early June to the end of September, on guided visits only, and the park freely. 2026 prices: €12 per adult (château, park and exhibitions), €8 for 7 to 17-year-olds and students, free under 7.
