Two escape games in Le Puy-en-Velay: a secret 16th-century brotherhood and a western-style manhunt playable by up to 20, in teams competing against each other.
Black Owl is two escape games in the very centre of Le Puy-en-Velay, on rue d'Alençon. The first room, La Confrérie de la Chouette Noire, drops you into a 16th-century secret society: you push open the door, and you have to prove you deserve to get in. The second, WANTED!, switches genre completely, with a manhunt in the Wild West where several teams compete to track down the outlaw fastest. That one can be played by up to 20 people, over about 75 minutes, which makes it handy for a birthday, a hen do or a group outing. Both sets are carefully done, you can feel the work that has gone into the immersion. At weekends, slots go fast, so it's best to book ahead.

Top tip
Come as a group: the price drops as the group grows, and WANTED! really comes into its own from about ten players split into teams.
Before you go
- Booking recommended, places limited at weekends.
- Weekend slots fill up fast.
- From €21 per player, with a sliding scale depending on the number of participants. Gift vouchers and ANCV cheques (holiday vouchers) accepted.
- An adult must play with the team, in both rooms. With young children, call before booking to find out whether the game suits them.
- Book ahead, especially at the weekend, when places are limited.
- The more of you there are, the less it costs per person.
- Allow about 75 minutes for the WANTED! game.
