Séréni'thé à Aurillac

On Place Claude Erignac, a stone's throw from the centre of Aurillac, Séréni'thé is part tea room, part small vegetarian restaurant. Hushed atmosphere, a well-kept dining room, the place to put your bag down when the city has worn you out.

On the tea side: a list of teas and herbal infusions, homemade hot chocolate, coffee, and pastries made the same day. At lunchtime, you sit down to a vegetarian set lunch that changes with the seasons: leek, Roquefort and walnut quiche, green bean tart, potato and Cantal cheese tart. It is cooked fresh, without showing off.

What makes the difference: the place has been certified organic since February 2022, and almost everything comes out of the owner's kitchen, with organic produce to back it up. You can taste it on the plate and in the cup, and the reviews hover around 4.9 out of 5.

Our take, frankly: this is the peaceful spot in Aurillac for a light lunch or a tea-time break. You go for the homemade quality. Open Tuesday to Saturday during the day, closed Sunday and Monday: lunchtime for eating, afternoon for tea.
