A natural viewpoint over the Truyère gorges at Anglards-de-Saint-Flour (Cantal). A plunging view into the Truyère canyon, 200 m deep, with basalt cliffs and reservoir lakes. Access is open and parking is free. A waymarked path runs along the overhang if you fancy a short walk. Come late in the day if you can: the canyon catches the light at sunset. The Garabit Viaduct is 10 minutes away by road.

Top tip
The wind blows almost constantly on the edge: bring an extra layer, even in summer. If you carry on to the Garabit Viaduct, note that it is the work of Eiffel, 1884.
