Vélorail de la Sioule

A rail bike ride set up on the former railway line of the Sioule valley, starting from Le Mayet-d'École (Allier). You pedal 8 km (16 km return) on the north circuit and its two viaducts over the Sioule, or 5 km (10 km return) towards Gannat on the south circuit. The ride is on a pedal-powered rail bike (up to 5 people per vehicle), crossing the Colettes and Paraudes viaducts. Children are accepted from 9 months if they can sit up (seat provided up to age 3), and to pedal you must be at least 1.30 m tall. Allow 1 hour 45 on the north circuit, 1 hour 15 on the south circuit, from April to October. In 2026, a rail bike costs from €30 (for two) to €60 (for five) on the north circuit, and €35 for two to five people on the south circuit, payable on site. Book ahead in July and August, and arrive at the meeting time: departure is about twenty minutes later, once the safety instructions are done.
