The Dore balconies (circuit no. 9)

This waymarked circuit starts by crossing the Lasdonnas park, which offers a pretty view of the walls of the old medieval town of Courpière, before following the Dore and climbing back up towards La Peyrouse. When you cross the RD 223, you might also consider stepping very slightly off the circuit to reach the handsome Château d'Aulteribe, which has the particularity of being one of the best-furnished châteaux in France. We can only recommend that you visit it! A little further on, you cross the village of Sermentizon before reaching the former commandery of the Hospitallers of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, in Courtesserre. After this village you head back down to Courpière, alternating between paths and tracks. The circuit also passes beside the Institution Saint-Pierre, which served as a setting during the filming of “Les Choristes” for some scenes set in the dormitories.
