The feel of the route
Following the murmurs of the Dolore, you will reach the Chalas dam, before taking in a wonderful view over the town of Arlanc.
The route in detail
At the leisure centre, take the path going round the sports ground and cross the leisure centre.
(1) Leave the path where it turns at a right angle to the left alongside barbed wire and take the path on the right running along the river as far as the Capartel bridge.
(2) Cross to the other bank and turn right. Follow the path. Before the steep slope, take the dirt track on the left then on the right to reach the D300 (former D999).
(3) Turn left; follow this road for about 250 m and take the stony track that goes down on the left into the valley. After the E.D.F. substation, the track splits in two, take the one on the right as far as the Chalas dam.
(4) Climb the path on the right to reach the wood that overlooks the lake (viewpoint over the lake). In the wood, turn right in a clearing to rejoin the D300 (former D999).
(5) Follow the road on the left for a few metres and cross it to take a path leaving on the right. Follow this path, which joins a larger track that you take to the right as far as a clump of trees on the left.
(6) Turn left along the path on the hillside (viewpoint over the town of Arlanc and the Dore valley).
(7) Turn right onto a wide track that goes down to a tarmac lane. You come out facing a house. Turn left to another tarmac lane facing a barn, and turn left again to return to the starting point.
