Enduro Route Definition
An enduro route is a mountain bike circuit with a mostly downhill profile, broken up by short climbs. The start and finish points are different.
Enduro routes are set up on tracks and paths by agreement with the landowners. The rules of conduct are the same as on leisure mountain bike routes (keep your speed and your lines under control, pedestrians have priority).
It is a discipline that demands very good technique and a significant physical commitment from the rider. Protection is strongly recommended: wear a Jet AM or full-face helmet, a back protector or approved bag, knee pads and full-finger gloves.
Grading and Waymarking
Mountain bike enduro routes are identified by 4 colours, each corresponding to a different level of difficulty:
Green: very easy route
Blue: easy route
Red: difficult route
Black: very difficult route
The specific nature of the activity calls for special waymarking. The background of the marker shows the difficulty of the route, while the triangle and the two circles are white.
All circuits can be ridden on an electrically assisted mountain bike (e-MTB)
Practical information
Routes 78 and 79, which start from the Col du Béal and the Col de la Loge respectively, finish in the village of Chalmazel-Jeansagnière. Mountain bikers will have to arrange their own shuttles between the village of Chalmazel and the start of the circuit. They can also ride back up by following circuit no. 66 as far as the resort. Then follow circuit no. 26 to reach the Col du Béal, or circuit no. 60 to reach the Col de la Loge. Circuit no. 78 can be reached from the resort by taking the chairlift and the link to get to the start at the Col de la Loge. On reaching “Les Andrèves”, follow the “Les Andrèves vers station” link (Les Andrèves to the resort) to get to the start of the chairlift.
