The feel of the route
Étang des Barthes: Perched at more than 1,100 metres above sea level, the Barthes pond is a scenic, unusual site with a great diversity of animal and plant species. A herbarium has been compiled, recording the 293 plants present in 1900 at Freycenet-la-Tour.
The Barthes were also renowned for their famous frog fishing, which drew the “grenouilleurs” (frog-catchers). That was the name given to the villagers who, by age-old custom, came to draw on the resources of Mother Nature, the famous common frog
A pond, a maze, a play area, a small path on stilts, an observatory, a picnic area and little year-round residents (frogs, fish and birds) … for half an hour or half a day, this small corner of nature guarantees lovely moments with the family.
