Blue route 20 - The Papermakers
Start: Ambert
Starting from Ambert station (mountain bike and trail running base), this route with no technical difficulties takes you in the footsteps of the paper-making industry that set the rhythm of life in Ambert for more than three hundred years, between the 15th and 18th centuries. At that time, more than 40 mills in the area contributed to making Ambert paper, which was ordered by a prestigious clientele in France and across Europe. During your outing you will come across the remains of mills from that era, in a lovely setting between forests and watercourses.
