The feel of the route
The 5 good reasons to try the producers' market in Saint-Romain-Lachalm:
1/ A LABEL: the market carries the “Producteurs de Pays” label (local producers), which guarantees that local producers from the département and neighbouring départements are there: honey, cheeses, meats, vegetables, jams…
2/ A PLACE: in a charming village at the foot of the church, the producers' stalls set out and show off their products.
3/ AN ATMOSPHERE: Friendliness is the watchword of these markets. Every Friday in summer from 17:00, the village square comes alive. Residents and tourists mingle to enjoy a festive moment around good food. You can put together your own menu on the spot and eat it under cover, using planchas (griddles). A perfect example of the short supply chain: from the land to the plate
4/ ENTERTAINMENT: each market is enlivened by music, sheepdog demonstrations, puppet shows, clowns… The whole team of volunteers is working to offer you a programme all summer.
5/ AN EXCHANGE: it matters to you to know where your food comes from and how it is grown, so St Romain is where you will find your answers. The farmers are there to sell their products directly. No middleman, just one person to talk to: your producer!
