The Vieure lake, in the Bourbonnais bocage (hedged farmland), is the free swimming spot of the area: a beach with the Pavillon Bleu (Blue Flag) label in 2026, where a floating pool, with its 25-metre lap pool and its wooden deck, has replaced the old sandy beach. In 2026, swimming opened on 21 July, every day from 11:00 to 19:00, free and supervised, with a limit of 230 people at any one time; it closed as a precaution from 14 August (average water quality, intense heat, low water level). Around the 33 hectares of water: canoe, pedalo, paddleboard and tricycle hire in summer, fishing (carp, pike, roach), picnic areas, play areas, and the Auberge de la Borde for eating on site. A good base about twenty minutes from the Forêt de Tronçais.

Top tip
Swimming only opens in summer: in 2026, from 21 July until its precautionary closure on 14 August, every day from 11:00 to 19:00. The rest of the year, the site is still pleasant for a picnic, fishing or a walk around. Every year the lake hosts the Hadra Trance Festival (27 to 30 August in 2026): choose another date if you are after peace and quiet. Combine it with the Forêt de Tronçais, about twenty minutes away.
